I recently undertook my IDC with Paul and can honestly recommend him to any "want to be" instructor.  I was worried about whether I could absorb and understand all the component parts of a very detailed course at my age (53) given that the last time I was anywhere near a classroom was over 35 years ago.  I really didn't need to worry.  Paul delivered everything, both academic and practical training in a measured and lighthearted way so that learning process was hard work but a great deal of fun.  His style is down to earth and he is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of diving (and, its seems, everything including life, the Universe and all that!).  In summary my course with Paul was hard work, intense, entertaining and fun.

I'm just dropping you a quick line to say a big thank you for all the help you gave me in preparation for my recent Instructor Examination.

 

As you know, I have just passed my PADI Instructor Examination at the first attempt and have now become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. The fact that I passed first time is unquestionably due to the fact that I was properly prepared for what was involved in the examination; I knew beforehand exactly what I would have to do, and felt confident that I had the skills to do what was required. This thorough preparation was due to the excellent instructor development course that you conducted.

 

I have carried out most of my dive training over the last six years with you, from Rescue Diver through to my current level of Open Water Scuba Instructor. This has included many Speciality courses also. Without exception, all of the training I've done with you has been so much FUN! You seem to have an uncanny ability to make even the stodgiest of theory sessions lighthearted, whilst still ensuring that the content of the material is covered. Oozing confidence and patience, your teaching manner in and out of the water is a joy to behold! Through all of my training with you, you have used different techniques with different people according to their needs and this has been a source of inspiration to me! I'm determined to use some of your techniques myself in teaching my students.
